The Homeroom was first created in 1997 to mark the 125th anniversary of British Columbia's first provincial Public School Act. Since then, the web site has grown, thanks to contributions from students and faculty at British Columbia schools, colleges and universities, and from independent scholars.
We've changed the "look" of the web site several times. Mary O'Neill, a member of the Faculty of Education at Malaspina University-College, generously and creatively designed the pages on the first editions of this web site. Diane Shortt, a graduate of Malaspina's Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education programme (2001), created a postmodern look to The Homeroom in 1999/2000. Nathanael de Jager (a graduate and instructor in the Information and Applied Systems programme at Malaspina) designed the graphics for The Homeroom "annex," Make History on the Web!
